Pro surfer Bethany Hamilton welcomed her first child with husband Adam Dirks on June 1.

Hamilton, who made headlines in 2003 when she lost an arm in a shark attack, shared the happy news with followers on Instagram on Monday, June 15, reports US.

“Blessed to welcome our son, Tobias, into the world. Born June 1st, 7.9 lbs. and 21″ Long. He is named after his great grandpa Tobias meaning ‘The goodness of God.’ Adam and I so in love with our lil guy and are stoked to share life with him! #stokedmomma Photo: @TimmyHamilton,” the first-time mom captioned a gorgeous family photo of herself with Dirks and little Tobias.

The happy couple, who said “I do” in August 2013, announced they were expecting a baby boy this past February.

“We have a little surprise for you…baby on board!” the 25-year-old revealed in a video posted to her website. “She’s pregnant!” Dirks added.

“We’re starting to feel ready for this lil boy to enter the world! Ready or not parenthood here we come,” the new mom, who surfed up until her belly was too big, captioned a bikini bump photo last month.

In the interview in which the couple revealed they were expecting a baby, which was ‘liked’ online 98,000 times, Bethany said: “In baby terms I’m about 22 weeks, which is about halfway there.

“It’s been a pretty crazy last four months finding out that we’re going to be parents. Life’s kind of going to be changing and kind of just started to prep for bringing a new little being into the world.”

‘It’s really exciting. I’ve been surfing through my whole pregnancy. I plan to surf as long as I can.’

Bethany admitted that her missing arm could prove challenging when it comes to her baby boy.

‘Motherhood with one arm, I kind of think about it. I kind of forget I have one arm, a squirming baby and changing diapers and just me could be really challenging,’ she said. ‘But I think how I live life now. I just adjust and adapt to different things and I’ll find my own ways to take care of the baby.’

It’s been a decade since Hamilton lost her arm. In that time, she’s made her successful return to professional surfing and written a book about her experiences. Now she’s starting a new chapter. Tobias is the first child for her and Dirks, who’ve been married nearly two years.

Congratulations to the new family!
