Bristol Palin, the daughter of former Alaska Governor, Sarah Palin, disclosed, via a blog post, the she is expecting her second child, later this year. In an attempt to beat the media and paparazzi, to the punch, Palin took it upon herself to making the announcement. “I’m announcing this news a lot sooner than I ever expected due to the constant trolls who have nothing better to talk about.”
Palin delivered her first child, a son, Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston, at age 18, in 2008. Although engaged to Levi Johnson, her son’s father, the couple never married. Her first pregnancy was announced at the 2008 Republican National Convention when her mother, Sarah Palin accepted the nomination for vice-president, on the Republican ticket with Arizona Senator, John McCain and created a media circus.
After delivering her son, Bristol Palin worked with National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy and the Carrie Foundation, a teenage pregnancy advocacy group. On the Today show, in 2010, Palin commented, “It changes literally every aspect of your life, and if girls realized how hard it was to be a teen mom, they would think twice about having sex without the proper education and proper knowledge.”
