Wendy Williams’ Contentious Ariana Grande Comments
The Twitterverse is not very happy with famed talk show hostess Wendy Williams at the moment.
The 51 year-old recently discussed the young music starlet Ariana Grande on an episode of her television program, “The Wendy Williams Show,” upsetting the singer’s many enthusiastic fans in the process.
Williams noted that in spite of Grande being 21 years of age, she’ll permanently look like a 12 year-old. Fans of Grande believed that Williams was body-shaming the star by making those statements.
“She’s 21. She’ll forever look 12,” Williams said as the audience laughed. “And I don’t mean that in a good way. It’s nice to look younger than you are, but when you look too young and then you’re short—she’s only like 4’11”. I don’t look at her as, like, a woman.”
Williams went further on about Grande, saying that she doesn’t consider her to be an actual woman due to her shorter stature and youthful appearance.
Once Williams words made their way to the Internet, the #CancelWendyWilliams hashtag began trending on the popular social media site Twitter. Grande’s fans teamed up in an effort to get Williams’ television program cancelled. Backers of Grande were extremely charged on Twitter.
Many of them directed their frustration at Williams, saying that womanhood has nothing about the appearance of your face or the specific shape of your physique.
Some people, however, had a totally different approach to expressing their annoyance with Williams. Some stated that they believed the talk show hostess must be jealous of Grande.
