Margaret Cho has filed for divorce from her artist husband Al Ridenour, PEOPLE can confirm.
The Comedienne, who announced that she and Ridenour were separating in December last year after 11 years of marriage – filed on Wednesday in Los Angeles, California.
In divorce papers obtained by PEOPLE Cho, 46, states that she and Ridenour, 54, have been separated since September last year and cited “irreconcilable differences” under their legal grounds of separation.
Cho’s relationship was not traditional, but it once worked for her and husband, who agreed on an open marriage.
“I’m married to a man but I’m bisexual so I like both. We got together because …we both have this (idea), ‘I just don’t want to have sex with the same person my whole life. That’s just gross,'” she told “The Real” in 2013.
She even revealed that she has been in the house when Ridenour had another woman home, although she didn’t get jealous.
“We have a really big house,” she explained. “It’s kind of like if we wanna have that, it’s like, ‘You can stay on your side or I’ll stay on my side.’ When I see her, I’ll make her dinner. … Oh yeah. I’ve definitely been in the house.”
Cho and Ridenour have no children together.
