Rousey medical suspension, Returns Home From Hospital
After experiencing her first loss as a professional mixed martial artist and losing the UFC women’s bantamweight title, Ronda Rousey has been given a 180-day medical suspension.
According to officials with the UFO, Rousey (12-1) was knocked out in dramatic fashion by Holly Holm (10-0) at UFC 193 on Saturday at the Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.
The UFC acted as it’s own governing body for the event due to a lack of a sanctioning organization in Australia and released the entire card’s medical suspension information to record and suspension keepers for the Association of Boxing Commissions, MMA LLC.
Rousey’s suspension could be lifted pending a negative CT scan, reports ESPN.
The 28-year-old was taken to hospital after the fight where she was seen by a plastic surgeon regarding the horrific facial injuries she suffered, but after staying overnight it was confirmed that she had not suffered a concussion or any other serious injuries other than a nasty gash to her lip.
