Sarah Hyland Joins ABC Remake as Lisa Houseman
Deadline reports Sarah Hyland is joining the ABC remake of Dirty Dancing.
She will play Lisa Houseman (the character originally played by Jane Brucker), extroverted older sister to Baby, to be played by Abigail Breslin.
The story revolves around the affluent Houseman family vacationing at a Catskills resort in the 1960s.
The three-hour special is a remake of the 1987 hit which starred Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey as lovers Johnny Castle and Baby.
Previously announced cast members include dancer Colt Prattes (as Johnny), The Mysteries of Laura‘s Debra Messing (as Baby’s mother, Marjorie Houseman) and former Pussycat Dolls frontwoman Nicole Scherzinger as Penny.
To be adapted for television by Jessica Sharzer (American Horror Story) and counting Dirty Dancing screenwriter Eleanor Bergstein among its executive producers, the reboot will feature “filmed song and dance performances” as it follows Frances “Call Me Baby, But Don’t Put Me in a Corner” Houseman, an innocent 1960s lass who vacations with her family in the Catskills and eventually falls for the resort’s swivel-hipped, working-class dance instructor, Johnny Castle.
Over the weekend Sarah attended an Oscars viewing party with boyfriend Dominic Sherwood, 26.
The brunette beauty wowed in a sparkling silver gown with plunging neckline.
