Model, designer and activist Ashley Graham is really hitting it big this year. She covered Sports Illustrated‘s swimsuit edition, she has her own fashion line and now she’s on the cover of Maxim.
So it’s time for the peanut gallery to weigh in, we guess.
Graham’s cover shoot for Maxim has drawn the typical amount of accusations of Photoshopping, because that’s the world we live in now.

It got to the point where the shoot’s photographer, Gilles Bensimon started responding to commenters on his Instagram. “In fact (almost no photoshop) sorry to disappoint you,” he replied to one hater in the comments.
The cover is also drawing criticism of a slightly different sort. Some fans have pointed out that while it’s historic that she’s the first plus-size model to cover Maxim, the particular way she was shot covers up most of her body. Others noted that while she is plus size, she is a “safe” or “conventional” choice to feature.
Graham herself is all smiles (well, all positive emojis, anyway) about the whole thing.
