Noel Neill: The First Lois Lane Dead At 96

The actress who played Lois Lane opposite George Reeves in the 1950 version of the TV series Superman has died Sunday, July 3, 2016 at the age of 95.

Actress reference to have played the role of Lois Lane before Amy Adams , Erica Durance , Kate Bosworth or Margot Kidder , Noel Neill was a legend for any fan of DC Comics Universe. During a decade (1948 to 1958), the actress played opposite Superman , first in the guise of Kirk Alyn , and under those – most famous – of George Reeves.

Her biographer and friend, Larry Thomas Ward , who announced the news, relayed by the website Deadline : “Noel Neill retains its lively temperament, joyful and enthusiastic until the end,” he added. The actress suffered since 2010 from the consequences of a broken hip. The actor of Breaking Bad , of Supernatural and Crimson Peak Jim Beaver was one of the first to react on Twitter:

“My dear Noel Neill, the Lois Lane of George Reeves, Superman in the 1950s, died at age 95. Rest in peace, my dear.”

This role of Lois Lane aside, Noel Neill has not really pursued her acting career, merely mainly to make appearances in various remakes and reboots the franchise, sometimes to Richard Donner in 1978 or Bryan Singer in Superman Returns in 2006. It was also seen in the TV series Superboy in 1988 and Lois & Clark: the new adventures of Superman in 1993.
