Terry Bradshaw’s Weight Struggles

14 seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers enabled Terry Bradshaw to stay healthy and fit. When age and injury forced him to retire, however, he began to pack on the pounds.

The weight gain affected his self-image. He felt unattractive and unhealthy. When he felt as if he’d reached his limit, Bradshaw took action. Over time, he tried many options to shed the pounds. Like most people, he found this difficult, but the forces which drove Terry Bradshaw as a professional athlete also drove his desire to lose weight and get healthy. He realized the balance and structure that he had as a professional athlete would help him in this attempt.

Bradshaw looked at other former athletes who had struggled in the same way, and he decided to follow their examples. That’s when Terry discovered Nutri-System. Nutri-System provided balance between nutrition and taste while creating a system that was easy to use. In no time at all, Bradshaw found himself back on track to the man he used to be.

The end of his competitive sports career is, in part, what packed on the pounds with which Bradshaw struggled. The competitive nature that helped him lead his teams to five Super Bowl victories, however, would not allow him to give in to the extra pounds.

Bradshaw, who played 14 seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, was the first quarterback to win four Super Bowls, and led the Steelers to eight AFC Central championships. Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1989, Bradshaw was known for calling his own plays throughout his football career. Off the field, Bradshaw’s expertise and infectious personality have landed the football great a successful career as a broadcast commentator, an actor in both movies and television, a New York Times best-selling author, as well as a sought after motivational speaker. Bradshaw is currently the co-host of FOX NFL Sunday.

“During my time as a professional football player and even after retirement, I stayed in great shape, but it wasn’t until all the injuries caught up with me and I couldn’t work out that the pounds started packing on,” says Bradshaw. “I found myself overweight and looking for the perfect plan to help me shed these packed pounds and get my health back, when I was inspired by Dan Marino’s and Coach Don Shula’s weight loss success on Nutrisystem and gave the program a try. Bottom line, Nutrisystem for Men is the go-to guy’s diet. It’s simple, has great tasting meals and didn’t leave me feeling hungry all the time. It works and that’s good enough for me in this game called real-life where the stakes are high and the prize is feeling lighter, and looking and feeling better.”

“Terry Bradshaw is known as a tough competitor – someone who doesn’t let obstacles stand in his way,” says Joe Redling, Chairman and CEO of Nutrisystem. “With Nutrisystem he had a playbook to lose weight and get healthy without counting, tracking, weighing in or going to meetings. The results speak for themselves. Terry joins another football legend, Dan Marino, in talking directly and honestly with men about how to take weight off. We’re delighted to welcome Terry to the Nutrisystem family and know that he’ll be a leader in helping to motivate men around the country to take the first step towards a healthier lifestyle.”
