Is AT&T bringing the Data Plan to a New Level?

The CEO of AT&T is announcing that data-only plans will be available in the very near future. He did actually state that AT&T did not have any such data plans in effect right now.

Not sure why he left out the fact that his very own company has actually been offering these data plans for the past two years. It may be because the current data only plans are only effective if paired with the USB modems and the built in modems as well. These are not compatible with Smartphones right now, so possibly this is what he is referring to.

“I’ll be surprised if, in the next 24 months, we don’t see people in the market place with data-only plans,” Stephenson said at an investor conference in New York. “I just think that’s inevitable.”

The data plans that are being discussed through out the world of AT&T will be a bit different in composition as they will actually revolve around family data plans and not so much the single user.

There are several advantages to using a shared data plan, first and foremost they will be able to pool together their data with several different updated devices and save money at the same time.
