Bus Monitor Bullied: Internet Comes To The Rescue (VIDEO)

A bus monitor for the Greece School District in Greece, N.Y., is receiving an outpouring of support after a ten-minute video surfaced showing a group of young teens verbally attacting the elderly widow.

Karen Huff Klein, 68, does her best to ignore the vile taunts and malicious threats the boys make during the tirade.

Mrs Klein told WHEC in Rochester that the ride on Monday started out as any other day. ‘Everything started out as usual,’ she told the station. ‘I don’t know what happened.’

She said the students who maliciously attacked her were often full of mischief but for some reason things spirled out of control that day.

At one point in the video she turns and tells the boys that if they don’t have something nice to say then don’t say anything at all.

One of the kids responds: “Shut the f*** up,” and then asks why there is water on her face. “Are you sweating?” the student asks.

“No, I’m crying,” Mrs Klein says.

At one point, a student says: ‘You’re so ugly, your kids should kill themselves.’

One of her sons had committed suicide 10 years ago, msnbc.com reported.

“I tried to ignore it … I didn’t hear some stuff and tried to shut them out,” Klein told CNN affiliate WHAM.

But in a heart-warming turn of events, donors from Reddit and across the internet have raised more than $120,000 for Mrs Klein, who has been serving the school district for more than 23 years, in hopes that she can take the vacation she’s always dreamed of.

From Reddit:

Now, as awful as this was, there was a silver lining in not only the universal condemnation of the actions of these kids, but also in a call for support for this poor woman. Her name is Karen Klein, and if you are so compelled, please feel free to reach out to offer support. She has been a widow for 17 years, has lived in the same town she grew up in and is about to have her 50th high school reunion in the same school district, and deserves so much better than the actions shown by those in this video. Let’s show her that there are still good people out there..

The school district said its bullying team and the local police are conducting an investigation.
“We have discovered other similar videos on YouTube and are working to identify all of the students involved,” the school district said in a statement.
