Armstong steps down from LIVESTRONG charity he founded
Lance Armstrong, once the hero of the cycling world has now removed himself from the board of the charity he himself founded over his doping allegations. Armstrong stepped down as chairman to not tarnish the charity with the fallout of the doping allegations.
Armstrong founded LIVESTRONG in 1997 after his own cancer diagnosis. Armstrong served as chairman of the successful charity that supports cancer patients and their families, but will now only remain on the charity’s board. The charity has raised over 500 million dollars for cancer survivors of all types of cancers.
Armstrong has lost several of his endorsement deals over the doping allegations, but most have stated that while they are not endorsing Armstrong that they will continue to support the LIVESTRONG charity.
It is still to be decided by the International Cycling Union if they will strip Armstrong of his record 7 Tour De France titles and place an official lifetime ban on Armstrong.
