Robert Griffin III, affectionately known as RG3 by his fans, has experienced an interesting ten months. He suffered a knee injury against the Baltimore Ravens in game 14 of the regular season on December 9. He then injured it a second time in the wildcard game against the Seattle Seahawks weeks later requiring corrective surgery which was performed on January 9.
Then, over the summer, he married his college girlfriend Rebecca Liddicoat on July 6. For the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles, his wife arrived wearing what would most certainly be called “hooker heels” in the hood. The tall stilettos may give her quite the lift and most certainly let her do what Tyra Banks calls “booty-tooch”, but Liddicoat still is petite next to her 6’2″ husband.
The married couple are still in the honeymoon phase, but sadly RG3’s off field luck didn’t rub off on his game performance. He was rusty following his months of physical rehab and threw two interceptions. While that is not uncommon for quarterbacks in general, it was a career high for the 23-year-old army brat from Okinawa, Japan.
Chalk it up to a rough start, but the Eagles were able to dominate the Redskins despite winning by only a touchdown 33-27.
Following the game, fans were questioning wether RG3 was up to the task following such a horrific knee injury.
“I’m also not paying attention to any of that stuff,” Griffin said Wednesday during his weekly news conference at Redskins Park. “If I make a bad throw coming off of an injury, it’s my mechanics and I’m not driving off my back leg. But if a healthy quarterback makes a bad throw it’s just a bad throw. I understand that.”
RG3 says he got through the game with no setbacks on his surgically repaired right knee.
“Typical soreness from getting hit,” Griffin said. “Philly got me good a couple times. That’s just the way it goes. You just work those kinks out.”
Maybe Griffin would have been better off waiting an extra month. What do you think? Let us know in the comment section below.
