On Sunday night while on a flight from Memphis to Las Vegas, councilman Marion Barry began to feel ill.
The Washington councilman was hospitalized on Monday at the Summerlin Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas for the treatment of a blood clot.
Barry along with other Washington political figures were slated to participate in RECon, an international shopping center convention.
According to Barry, he felt pain in his leg while eating dinner in a Las Vegas hotel. The councilman’s chief of staff made this comment to The Associated Press, Barry “is resting comfortably” and is expected to make a full recovery.
This is the second time that the D.C. councilmember has been hospitalized this year. In January, Barry took a little time off to have a minor procedure done on his urinary tract.
