On Thursday, June 28, 2012, Arizona resident Michael Marin was pronounced dead just moments after being convicted of arson.
Marin was once a very wealthy man; however in 2008 he found his bank account lacked the fortune he once possessed. As his mortgage payments and other bills piled up, he became desperate to find a way out. He was arrested in 2009 when authorities found reason to believe that his mansion was intentionally set ablaze.
Seconds after the guilty verdict was read, Marin cupped his hands and ran them over his face and appeared to have swallowed something. Minutes later he began convulsing and was later pronounced dead. Although law enforcement suspects he may have committed suicide by poisoning himself, this will not be confirmed until a toxicology report has been completed.
