More than three million people have lost their power in areas from New Jersey to Indiana and in parts of Virginia.
The power outage has caused a major issue as the sweltering heat is causing other issues, particularly with the elderly. The nasty storms, killing at least 13 people, have caused major destruction.
Temperatures are running in triple digits in a number of areas. Since there is no power this means there are no fans, no air conditioners, and no other way to cool homes and public places. Power officials said they have crews working 24/7 trying to restore power but it will still be several days to a week before all power is restored.
