Arlen Specter Fights For His Life

It was recently confirmed by his Philadelphia office that Arlen Specter is fighting cancer yet again. Specter is the former U.S. Senator of Pennsylvania and this is his third battle against cancer.

According to CNN, The 82 year old former Senator is Pennsylvania’s longest running Senator to date, and has had several other past medical problems. Arlen Specter was the Senator of Pennsylvania up until 2010 where he switch political parties and lost the Democratic primary and was replaced by Republican Pat Toomey.

Apart from this being his third run in with cancer, the first being in 2005 and second in 2008, Specter faced the two bouts of Hodgkin’s disease and came away victorious both times.

Specter has also pulled through a brain tumor, and a bypass surgery which resulted in cardiac arrest.

With the news of the diagnosis Specter doesn’t seem to be showing any signs of weakness as he was quoted saying “I’m battling cancer. It’s another battle I intend to win.”
