Sarah Palin Makes Last-Minute Donation to Romney

After staying on the sidelines through most of the presidential campaign season, Sarah Palin has made an eleventh-hour donation to Republican candidate Mitt Romney.

SarahPAC, the former Alaska governor and vice presidential hopeful’s political action committee, committed $5,000 to the Romney campaign on October 31, according to the Federal Election Commission.

Palin, who has not campaigned with Romney, has to this point largely kept her contribution to the 2012 presidential race confined to appearances on Fox News and social media updates, most of which were more anti-Obama than pro-Romney. SarahPAC has been much more involved in congressional races, donating $5,000 each to Rep. Allen West (R-FL) and a Republican US Senate candidate in Texas, Ted Cruz.

According to the Washington Post, the Romney donation was made discreetly, a marked difference from Palin’s usual “splashy endorsements.” Indeed, Palin has never explicitly endorsed Romney, though she did praise his selection of Paul Ryan as his running mate.
