$425 Million Jackpot: Powerball Climbs To New Record

Powerball Climbs to Record Jackpot of $425 Million

With no ticket holder having purchased a ticket showing all five winning numbers in the Saturday, November 24 Powerball lottery game, the jackpot for the next installment has risen to a record-setting $425 million.

According to FOX News, no one was holding the winning ticket numbers announced for Saturday’s most recent game, which were the Powerball number of 34 and the numbers 22-32-37-44-50. Whoever wins the Powerball grand prize, next scheduled to be announced on Tuesday, November 27, will certainly have a very merry Christmas this year, even after having to shell over millions of dollars of the prize money in taxes before even receiving a check.

According to the Lottery Post, the lump-sum cash payout value of Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot is a staggering $278.3 million. After-tax cash and annuity prize amounts are reported state-by-state on the Jackpot Analysis page at USA Mega, a web site devoted to the Powerball and Mega Millions multi-state lottery games.

Lottery officials say that the last highest game on record for Powerball occured in 2006 when a Nebraska resident claimed the top prize of $365 million.

The most recent Powerball grand prize of $325 million was considered the fourth-largest in the history of the game according to Lottery officials.

Even though nobody won the main jackpot on Satuday, 11 lucky players matched the first 5 numbers for a $1,000,000 prize: 1 from Arizona, 1 from Florida, 2 from New Jersey, 3 from New York, 1 from Oregon, 1 from Texas, 1 from Virginia, and 1 from Wisconsin.

Saturday night’s numbers were 22, 32, 37, 44 and 50 with a Powerball of 34.

The Powerball lottery is played in 42 states, Washington D.C. and the US Virgin Islands.
