Dunkin' Donuts Coffee Claim Ruled No Good: No Longer "The Best" In America

Dunkin’ Donuts Coffee Claim Ruled No Good: No Longer “The Best” In America

Dunkin’ Donuts Loses Best Coffee Title

After bidding to be named the “Best Coffee in America” last week, the popular Dunkin’ Donuts chain had to deal with some upsetting news. Dunkin’ Donuts unfortunately lost the claim to be named the “Best Coffee in America”.

Though back in 2004 the foods editor of NBC listed Dunkin’ Donuts as the best, it is the opinion of coffee drinkers that actually matters.

A survey conducted by Zagat proved to show that though Dunkin’Donuts coffee is loved by many, it does not beat the love that people have for Starbucks coffee, reports Examiner. Starbucks was in a strong first place after the survey of 8,000 coffee lovers was conducted.

This, of course, was a disappointment for Dunkin’ Donuts. Not only are they not able to hold bragging rights, but they were not able to trademark the term of “Best Coffee in America”. Only time will tell whether or not Starbucks will try to trademark the phrase.

“As a company with a more than 60-year heritage that is proud to be an American icon, Dunkin’ Donuts sells more than 1.5 billion cups of hot and iced coffee globally every year. We are simply going through the trademark process,” Jessica E. Gioglio, a Dunkin’ Donuts spokeswoman, said.
