Accidental Shooting Result In Injuries at Gun Shows
On Saturday, January 19, Gun Appreciation Day, accidental shootings at three gun shows resulted in mild injuries to five people. The incidents took place at the North Carolina Dixie Gun and Knife Show, Indiana Indy 1500 Gun and Knife Show and Ohio Medina Gun Show.
The North Carolina incident resulted in injuries to three people from the discharge of a 12-gauge shotgun. The gun went off as one event-goer, 36-year-old Gary Lynn Wilson, attempted to show the weapon. Shortly thereafter, the North Carolina State Fairgrounds restricted event to prevent personal handgun sales
The Indiana incident involved a participant, Emory L. Cozee, accidentally shooting himself in the hand while loading a .45-caliber semiautomatic handgun.
At the Ohio Medina Gun Show, the friend of a gun dealer experienced a richochet arm injury after the dealer forgot to remove the last round from the chamber of a semiautomatic handgun and accidentally fired it.
