According to Mercury News:
The woman, who was not identified, was riding in a 1995 Honda Coupe at about 2 a.m. just south of the Broadway exit in Burlingame when the driver somehow lost control, and possibly collided into the center divider before crashing into a 1998 Ford party bus. She was not wearing a seat belt, according to the CHP.
Investigators believe the driver, a 43-year-old Raul Padilla and his passenger had been drinking alcohol earlier that evening but their level of impairment is not yet known. The crash, which remains under investigation, also involved a silver Honda Civic and a black Lexus. No arrests have been made.
The driver of the Honda was taken to Stanford Hospital with major injuries. Five people, two with moderate injuries and three with minor injuries, were taken to Stanford Hospital. Three others with minor injuries were taken to San Francisco General Hospital. The driver of the party bus sustained moderate injuries but refused medical attention at the scene. Seven passengers in the party bus were also taken to the hospital.
The highway was closed to southbound traffic for two hours California Highway Patrol Officer Art Montiel said.
“We’re still trying to figure out who came into contact with what,” Montiel said.
“If it is determined he was under the influence, he could face felony DUI charges and manslaughter charges,” Montiel said.
The accident is currently under investigation; authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed it to call (650) 369-6261.
Another deadly party bus crash occurred earlier this month in Kansas city. See below for a video news report.
