Now it has been revealed that there are no jackpot winners and the prize had continued to grow in strength reaching up to $400 million for next Wednesday’s drawing. While the record for the jackpot sits at $590.5m that was won by an 84 year old widow in Florida last May, $400 million is certainly not spare change. However, $400 million seems to be high enough to catch the interest of casual players that only buy tickets when the jackpot hits a high enough amount.
Although statistically everyone that plays the Powerball has a one in 175.2 million chance of winning, many people still use their own superstitious methods of choosing numbers such as using birthdays and lucky numbers. The other 80% of people rely on quick pick numbers for their chance at the big pot.
The Powerball jackpot is played in 43 states as well as the U.S. Virgin Islands and Washington D.C.
