Two teens, ages 12 and 14 were arrested Monday. They are being accused of bullying 12 year old Rebecca Sedwick leading up to her suicide on September 9th. Both teens were arrested in Florida following a confession by the 14 year old on Facebook where she admitted to bullying the girl and telling the victim “to drink bleach and die”. Rebecca had begun dating a boy the bully had previously dated. As many as 15 other girls were also implicated as bullying Rebecca over the incident. Fed up with the abuse, Rebecca ended her life brief life by jumping from a water tower.

Following arrest, the teens were released to their parents’ care under home detention. Police were quoted as being concerned that the 14 would continue cyber bullying other teens. Both girls were charged with felony aggravated stalking. The younger of the two girls charged was previously Rebecca’s best friend.

The Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd states that he is currently looking into the accountability of the parents of the arrested teens. The Facebook posts which resulted in police arrests, were said indicate that the 14 year old showed no signs of remorse over her threats to harm Rebecca. Judd said the teen was, “very cold, had no emotion at all upon her arrest.”
