Man Causes Alarm at Sea-tac Airport After Breaching Security
Security personnel at Seattle-Tacoma (Sea-Tac) International Airport had their hands full Friday after an unknown man breached security and was able to run onto the airport tarmac. While on the tarmac, he forced his way into a plane.
The man, who is believed to be in his 20s, breached the security gate known as checkpoint 5 which is located in concourse D. Naturally, security officers sprang into action, but so did the young man who flew up a flight of stairs and attempted to open the door to a plane. The fact that the door was locked did not deter him. He managed to break the window and climb through the narrow portal and get into the plane. Moments later authorities boarded the plane, tackled him, and whisked him away. Some believe the man was intoxicated. A spokesman for Sea-Tac Security stated that drugs were involved in the man’s errant behavior.
The plane the man boarded is owned by American Airlines. Following the incident, the airline took the precautionary step of having the plane inspected for any possible bombs. Dogs were brought in to sniff out the presence of explosives and after not finding any, the plane was allowed to depart.
