Another Mccarron drops the ball?

Dee Dee McCarron, the mother of Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron made the news following the BCS National Championship game by tweeting about her dislike for Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston. Although, it was obvious that she was pulling for another SEC championship she tweeted herself into a PR firestorm by asking, “Am I listening to English?” Her tweet followed the post game on the field field interview of Jameis Winston moments after he led the Florida State team to a come from behind victory that was of historical proportions. It was immediately assumed that her simple question was a racial slap in the face of Winston, who is African American.

Ms. McCarron’s tweet was quickly taken down due to the intense response from across the country. Within the next few hours she apologized to anyone who might have been offended by her off hand tweet that she assures was not intended to be a racial slur. She indicates that she was only commenting on the not so articulate manner in which Winston conducted the interview. While maybe not a lesson on proper English, his interview was heartfelt and full of the emotion one would expect in the moments following a National Championship.
