The official amount of tomorrow’s Powerball Lottery prize is $284 million, but a surge in last minute buying holds open the possibility that the prize will top $300 million. This past Saturday, ten people came close to claiming the grand prize by picking the first five numbers which were 24, 25, 34, 37 and 54. However, no one picked the Powerball number. Each of those five people won a $1 million.

Saturday’s winning ticket holders purchased tickets in New York, New Jersey, California, Colorado, Florida, Oklahoma, Texas and West Virginia. At the current payout, the winner would be entitled to a lump sum distribution of $162.7 million.

The lone $1M ticket sold in New Jersey was purchased at the Lakeview Deli-Mart in Clifton. Saturday marked yet another in a series of 13 drawings that have come up short. Today’s Mega Millions jackpot prize is $122 million with a lump-sum payout of $67 million.

As for the Powerball lottery, it is participated by over 45 different lotteries and is always guaranteed to be at least $40 million. The biggest prize to day was achieved only this past May when the prize reached a dizzying $590 million won by a lone ticket holder in Florida.
