Emile Hirsch Sentenced to Jail after Attack

Thirty-year-old actor Emile Hirsch is now facing a fifteen-day jail sentence after an attack on a studio executive. An incident earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival lead Hirsch to put a female Paramount Picture executive Vice President Daniele Bernfeld in a choke-hold and slammed her to the ground. It is unknown what exactly provoked Hirsch to violently attack her. According to Hirsch, he was intoxicated during the incident and does not remember what happened.

Hirsch, who has starred in films such as “Milk”, “Lone Survivor”, and “Into the Wild”, was facing a five year sentence for his attack on the woman. In addition to his fifteen days in jail, he was also ordered to spend 50 hours doing community service and will need to pay a $4,750 fine. He was also ordered to a treatment program and to pay restitution to Bernfeld. If Hirsch does not follow through with the conditions of his plea deal, he will face a year in jail. Bernfeld said she was disappointed that Hirsch got such a light sentence for the unprovoked attack on her last January.
