Jethro was shot Saturday when officers responded to Fisher Foods for a burglary alarm. Inside the store, Jethro was shot three times by the suspect.

Jethro did not need surgery, but the shooting caused some brain trauma. According to the Police K9 Association, Jethro had trouble resting Saturday night and had to be sedated.

Jethro, draped in an American flag, was saluted by a line of officers as he was carried out of the veterinary clinic Sunday.

“We at the Canton Police Department want to thank all of you for your support over the last couple of days,” the Canton Police Department posted on Facebook. “Your prayers and well wishes have meant so much.”
