Captain Stephen James Healey died as result of a bomb blast while on patrol in Nahr-e Saraj, Afghanistan on Saturday. The 29 year old Welsh solider leaves his parents, his brother Simon and his girlfriend Thea to mourn his passing.
His family said: “Stephen was all you could wish for in a son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be sadly missed by us all. He managed to do more in his 30 years than most people do in a lifetime”.
Major Ian Lawrence has said: “It is with great sadness I must inform you that a soldier from 1st Battalion The
Royal Welsh has died of wounds sustained in an IED strike while on a mobile patrol in the Nahr-e Saraj district of Helmand Province.“The thoughts and prayers of all in the Task Force are with his family and friends at this sad time.”
Captain Healey was a solider since 2007 and was integrated into the 1st Battalion in 2008.
